Northern and Southern Cooks Weather Bulletin issued from NWFC Nadi Jul 270301 UTC. A STRONG WIND WARNING REMAINS IN FORCE FOR THE WATERS AND LAND AREAS OF SOUTHERN COOKS. A COASTAL INUNDATION ALERT IS NOW IN FORCE FOR LOW LYING COASTAL AREAS OF SOUTHERN COOKS. Situation: A northerly wind flow prevails over Southern Cooks. Meanwhile a trough of low pressure is expected to affect the group from tomorrow and is also expected to generate and direct damaging heavy swells during high tides which may lead to sea flooding of low lying coastal areas. A weak trough of low pressure with associated cloud and showers continues to affect Northern Cooks. Forecast to midnight tomorrow for the Southern Cooks: Over waters: Northerly winds 20 to 30 knots. Over the land areas : Moderate to fresh northerly winds, gusty at times. Expect sea flooding during high tides. Rough to very rough seas. Cloudy periods with some showers and possible isolated thunderstorms. Further outlook: Strong northerly winds 20 to 25 knots developing over land areas. Occasional rain, heavy at times and few thunderstorms. For Rarotonga: Cloudy periods with some showers and possible isolated thunderstorms.
